This weekend sees the first regional taking place at Laserfiche Raceway. We are in for what will without a shadow of a doubt be a spectacular days racing. We start with the youngest competitors in Bambino. The man to beat will be defending champion Tshepang Shisinwana. Sure to challenge him is the fast improving Troy van der Laan who has been very impressive in practice. Also hoping to be in the mix will be Caleb Odendaal all the way from East London. Next we look at Micro Max. This has always been a highly competitive class with any one of 8 drivers able to take race wins. If the first club race was any indication then the man to beat will be Kyle Beukes. Other potential race winners could come from Mohammed Moerat, Kent Swartz and Caleb Cotterell. Next up is Mini Max again a highly competitive class. Names to look out for will be Matthew Morrell, Troy Snyman and the fast improving young lady Taya van der Laan. Moving on to the ultra fast Junior Max class. Here we should see super close racing with the front runners most likely being as follows Kwanda Mokoena, Aqil Alibhai, Joseph Oelz and newcomer to the class Jordan Brooks also hoping to be at the sharp end of the field. So it is on to Senior Max and Max 175. The man with the target on his back will be defending champion Wayland Wyman. Hoping to give him a run for his money will be Shrien Naidoo, Dane van Heerde and lady racer Shannon Jackson. 175 Max will most likely see Nick Verheul at the front with Erwin Sterne hoping to upset the apple cart by beating the highly experienced Nick Verheul. Then it is on to the fastest class in this series of karting. DD2 and DD2 Masters. The man to beat will be 4 time DD2 national champion Bradley Liebenberg. He will undoubtedly be hard pressed by the returning Justin Allison, Nick Verheul and Wayland Wyman but to name a few. DD2 Masters will see Philippe Chepat hoping to defend his regional title but will be hard pressed by the likes of Carlo Gil and Scott Waddington. If you enjoy close racing then make your way to Laserfiche Raceway in Vereeniging on Saturday. Entry is free and you can see the entire track from the grandstand. Come one come all and see why karting is the best form of motorsport in the country. Racing in karting is for young and old from 5 years and up. We hope to see you all this weekend until then be safe and keep it on the black.
