The champ is back

Luke arrived at Vereeniging Karting Raceway for Round 1 of Rok Cup Nationals determined to proof that he is still the one to beat in Kid Rok. Luke was very happy with the setup and pace after the morning warmup posting the fastest time. Qualifying didn’t go exactly to plan with the team making a small mistake putting Luke 2nd on the grid for race 1. Race 1 saw Luke powering away from the field taking a commanding victory and in so doing showed that the champ was back with a vengeance. Race 2 was a repeat of race 1 with Luke taking another supremely commanding victory. Race 3 was a carbon copy of the first 2 races proving that Luke is a cut above the rest at the moment. The rest of the field will be hard pressed to close the gap to Luke. But this was not the only class for the young champ. Also competing in the highly competitive Mini Rok class. The really impressive part about not only competing in 2 classes is the fact that Luke is only 8 years old and most of his fellow competitors in Mini Rok are vastly more experienced and on average 3 to 4 years older than himself. morning warmup went very well with Luke posting the 9th fastest time. But 9th does not show how close the field is with Luke only 0.5 of a second slower than the fastest driver in the class. Qualifying was a bit difficult for Luke only managing to put his kart 14th on the grid for race 1. Race 1 was a fairly good race with Luke fighting for positions the whole race crossing the line in 11th position. Race 2 was a tough race for the young man with his kart developing a misfire halfway through the race due to a spark-plug going faulty which left Luke crossing the line in 13th place. Race 3 is surely one of the best races Luke has ever had charging hard and crossing the line in 7th place and in so doing showing the rest of the field that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the not to distant future. Luke achieved his personal goal for the day of making the top 10 by placing 9th overall for the day and taking the win in the under 10 category of Mini Rok. Luke would like to thank his team K2 Motorsport for all their hard work and giving him the tools to continue running at the front of the field. Then his sponsors Praga South Africa and Steelform for always having his back with everything he needs to chase his dreams. Lastly but by no way least his family and supporters who are always there to cheer him on. Bow it is back to putting in countless laps before the next race.
